Throughout 2023, Link Group managed 756 meetings in Australia and New Zealand. What is evident, is the AGM landscape has changed forever with hybrid meetings remaining favourable with Issuers and participants alike, allowing maximum engagement regardless of location.

At Link Group, our purpose is to connect shareholders to their assets, safely, securely, and responsibly.

We are delighted to share with you our meeting insights following the 2023 AGM season which saw online attendance records exceed prior years. Having a global footprint also provides an opportunity for us to gain a greater understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing Issuers in international markets.

In this report, we analyse a broad range of trends that have emerged from the season, but three key insights stand out from the season:

• technology adoption supported by the permanent legislative reforms has re-shaped the meeting format – Industry and participants enjoy the benefit of the increased flexibility to use technology to hold a hybrid meeting, or a virtual meeting (as permitted by company constitution)
• increased meeting engagement from participants with the use of technology in online attendance and receipt of meeting materials.
• remuneration matters took centre stage as a focus area for investors and activists, this trend of shareholders dissatisfaction and greater activism needs to be monitored as we move into 2024.
